Qatar, the country which currently holds the topmost position in liquefied natural gas export,is going to invest $20 billion on solar energy plant. This project, which is expected to start in 2014, will be completed by 2018. The power generated by this plant will be generally used for desalination plants. Currently, the country produces 7000 megawatts annually and the total power consumption is around 5000 megawatts. This solar energy plant will produce 1800 megawatt, which will make the share of renewable energy 16 percent in the electricity production scenario.
