Blind archer in Olympics

Im Dong-Hyun
Im Dong-Hyun set the first world record of the London Olympics on 20th july, 2012 and then added another as South Korea broke the team record. But whats so special about this 26 year old from South Korea?

Im Dong-hyun sees only 20% in one eye and 10% in another! Im from Chungbuk is legally blind in his left eye with 20/200 vision. That means he needs to be 10 times closer to see an object than someone with perfect 20/20 vision. His right eye has 20/100 vision.

He won team gold at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics to add to his four world titles and four Asian Games gold medals.

He surely is an encouragement for others like him hoping for a career in sports.

Madhura Honey at Olympic

Do you dream of leading the Indian march past at Olympic ? Do you think that this dream wont ever come true because you are not an athlete ? You are wrong. A lady from Bangaluru has just made it possible at the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony in London. She is Madhura Honey alias Madhura Nagendra.

Madhura Honey leads Indian Team March Past at Olympic 2012 in London
Indian March Past at Olympic 2012 in London
Acting chef de mission of the Indian contingent Brig P.K. Muralidharan Raja has said "We were initially told that she would accompany the contingent till the track but she went on to take the entire lap. There was another man also but he stayed back and did not enter the stadium.... We have taken strong exception to this. The march past is for the athletes and officials attached to the contingent. We are totally taken by surprise how a person could just intrude into the track."

Madhura Nagendra, a post graduate of Christ College in Bangaluru, who is living in London, showed her Olympic passes on Facebook before she appear in the world media. She walked confidently in red & blue along with wrestler Sushil Kumar, who was bearing the national flag of India !!! Her father K. Nagendra said in an interview "My daughter Madhura was officially selected for giving a dance performance in the inaugural ceremony by show creator Danny Boyle... From whatever I learnt and presume that she being an Indian, the London Olympics Organising Committee might also have selected her to 'take' the team inside the stadium. This might have hurt our team's feelings. I feel very sorry for that."

God's Particle found

"It’s hard not to get excited by these results" said CERN Research Director Sergio Bertolucci.
On 4th July, 2012 it has been announced at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, that they have found the almost mythical God's Particle in Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Prof Peter Higgs, after which the particle is named along with scientist late Satyendra Nath Bose, was present at the venue of announcement.

Announcement of Higg's Boson at CERN

Higg's Boson is treated as the elementary particle to provide mass to neutron-proton. Mysteriously this particle is never found alone in the universe. Theories in quantum physics showed a probability of its presence and it is assumed that it was present at the time of Big-Bang, the super explosion from which this universe is believed to be created. Due to its mysterious nature and immense importance of forming the mass in general, it is called as God's Particle.
